Microblading is the process of manually depositing color pigment beneath the first layer of the skin using a very fine sterile hand tool. Through individual strokes, a microblading artist can produce the appearance of hair strokes. Microblading allows great precision and creates depth, resulting in a natural three-dimensional effect that resembles natural eyebrow hairs.
The goal of microblading is to create the ideal brows that enhance your natural beauty and eliminate the need to draw in and re-apply cosmetics to shape your eyebrows thought the day. Microblading can last from 18 months to three years.
Your artist will devote the first portion of your session to analyzing your eyebrow shape and discussing with you an eyebrow design and color that will highlight your best facial features. The pigment used will be custom-formulated to match your natural eyebrow color, and if the eyebrows are still present, blend perfectly into the existing hairs.
Once you and your artist have agreed on design, the procedure area is traced over by a manual blade comprised of micro needles, inserting pigment into the superficial layer of the skin to create natural-looking hairlike strokes. The procedure itself takes around three hours.
A perfection session is a follow-up “touch up” session that generally takes place four to eight weeks following the initial microblading session. At this session, your artist will ensure that the color, definition, and shape of your new eyebrows retain their original brilliance. Any irregularities in the microbladed hair stokes and color tones are addressed during this session. This two-hour session is included in the price of all microblading packages.
Microblading is a semi-permanent make-up technique that involves inserting pigment into the upper layers of the skin using a specifically designed, handheld tool. A talented cosmetic artist uses the tool to create hairlike strokes the resemble the hair in your brows, resulting in a natural, perfectly shaped set of eyebrows- with no maintenance required!
The simple answer is, anyone that wants to have full, beautiful brows all day, every day! That would include busy parents or business people who don’t have much time to apply brow make up, active people who don’t want to worry about sweating off makeup while working out or swimming, or any person who struggles with getting that perfect shape that the celebrities and YouTube makeup artists always seem to have. Other clients include those suffering from scarring, Trichotillomania, Alopecia and Cancer, or other diseases and disorders that have led to natural hair loss. Let us do all the work for you!
Those with the following conditions may not be a suitable candidate for microblading:

-History of keloid scarring
-Auto-immune deficiencies
-People suffering from severe acne
-Pregnant women
-Chemotherapy patients will need to check with their physician and provide a doctor’s note
-People with conditions that cause them to bleed very easily (this impacts results)
-People with prior permanent makeup may not be good candidates for Mircoblading. This is determined by consultation.

No! We will shape your eyebrows as needed with tweezing and/or a razor, and we will choose a color pigment that blends seamlessly with your natural brows.
Ideally, yes. We would like to see how you look normally to help design your brows. It’s helpful to see how you wear your makeup and hair, and what style of dress you choose. Also, we like to see how you do your brows and what color you use, if you’re used to filling them in on a regular basis.
Contrary to popular belief, microblading does not use ink at all. Instead of ink, microblading uses pigment. It has a thicker consistency and will remain in the skin from one to three years, depending on skin type.
Yes, this does happen. Some people have highly effective immune systems that reject the pigment, and some just have highly effective skin healing. It’s very rare, but it’s important that all clients understand this is a possibility and in most cases, there is no way for us to know if this will take place prior to the work being done. Occasionally, we will recommend a third appointment to further touch the brows up if the client is retaining some pigment after the first touch up, however anything beyond that would likely be too much for the skin and the client would likely not be a candidate for further permanent makeup.
Microblading is absolutely safe when administered by a trained and experienced artist. North Cincy Microblading artists Jaci and Jackie are licensed and certified- which is exactly what you should seek in an artist if you are looking for microblading in Cincinnati.
Traditional eyebrow tattooing utilizes a lot of pigment and a block style brow, leaving you with dark outlined eyebrows without depth. Microblading provides a more natural look, with the pigment and eyebrow shape carefully selected to fit your face. As natural as it looks, all permanent makeup is still a form of tattoo.
This will vary by client. If aftercare instructions are followed diligently, your new brows will last approximately 18 months before they’re mostly faded. For some people, their brows will last even longer. Certain factors such as sun exposure, getting chemical peels, oily skin type, etc. will affect whether your brows will last on the higher or lower end of the expected 12-18 months. Also, some clients really prefer a fresh, bright look. Most clients opt to come in for a touch up every 12 months instead of waiting for their brows to completely fade.
Every client is different and pain tolerance varies by client. Most clients describe the pain level as minimal and find tweezing and threading more uncomfortable. At North Cincy Microblading, we use the best topical lidocaine cream available to minimize discomfort. That being said, this is still a tattoo. You will feel some discomfort. Based on experience, we would describe the feeling as a slight burning, astringent like sensation. Very tolerable and worth it!
The process takes approximately two hours from the moment you walk in the door to completion of your beautiful new brows. The first hour or so is spent designing your new brows and numbing the area. There is no downtime! Occasionally, some clients will have some slight redness and swelling around the area which is very normal and will subside within a couple of hours. Most clients go on about their normal day when they leave their appointment.
No, microblading does not stop the growth of your natural eyebrows. Microblading also does not promote or trigger hair loss in your eyebrow area.
Microblading can cover scars and fill in any gaps in your eyebrows. However, if you have eyebrow scarring, there is no guarantee that your scar tissue will take the pigment as well as healthy skin. It is best to consult with your microblading artist prior to undergoing the procedure.
Absolutely! The technique used at North Cincy Microblading creates realistic, simulated hair strokes that looks just like a real eyebrow! It’s important you choose the right artist that can give you this realistic 3D look. Your brows can be as big and bold or as soft and subtle as you like!
Yes, but limit showers to five minutes to prevent too much steaming around the brow area. A long, hot bath will have to wait. Gently rinse your eyebrows every morning and night with water and a gentle soap. Do not use any cleansing products with acids or exfoliants. Also, do not soak your brows in water until they are healed.
Do not tint your eyebrows for at least 10 days after the procedure, and do not apply any makeup to your brows for at least two weeks after the microblading session.
No, the procedure does not penetrate deep enough to damage the hair follicles-that is why your natural eyebrow hair growth will remain unaffected after microblading. Microblading is only done on the upper layers of the skin.
Microblading typically lasts from 18 months to three years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and skincare routine. Chat with your artist to learn more about how you should care for your microbladed brows to keep them looking beautiful.
A touch-up session is necessary to ensure that your eyebrows look exactly the way you want them to look. At North Cincy Microblading, a follow-up “perfecting” session is included in the microblading package. This session is generally scheduled for 4 to 8 weeks after the initial procedure.
You will be provided complete aftercare instructions that you should follow until your skin is completely healed. The instructions are thorough, but if you have any questions, North Cincy Microblading is here to help!
Microblading at North Cincy Microblading costs $400. This includes your initial microblading session and your perfecting session, which will leave you with perfect, beautiful brows for up to 3 years!
It usually takes 7 to 10 days for the skin to heal after the procedure. Your artist will provide thorough aftercare instructions to ensure that you know how to care for your brows to ensure optimal healing.
Please schedule a consult with one of our artists if you have had prior permanent makeup, no matter how long or how faded it looks. There is a chance that microbladed brows might not cover all of all of your visible eyebrow tattoos, so a consult with one of our artists will ensure that your microblading expectations are fully met.
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic technique, though it is often confused with permanent makeup such as eyebrow tattooing. There are two main differences between permanent tattoos and semi-permanent makeup like microbladed brows:
1.) Microblading uses a handheld tool, while both permanent makeup tattoos use a machine. The configuration of the needles is also different, with the microblading tool having a small, straight line of needles, allowing your technician to apply natural, hair-like strokes.
2.) Microblading inserts pigment into the top layers of the skin, while permanent makeup is applied deeper into the skin. This means that your microbladed brows will be less permanent but also less painful- good news if you are concerned with tattooing permanent brows onto your face because you fear you may want to change your brows one day!
Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure is normal and may last a day or so, depending on the client. Your new brows will appear DARKER, WIDER, AND SHARPER than the way they will heal. This is especially true for days 2-5. This is harder for some clients than others. Clients who rarely wear makeup may find that they don’t like how their brows look on these days because they are too intense. That’s normal! The pigment is sitting on top of the skin and has not yet settled into your face. As your skin heals over the tattoo, your brows with lighten and soften. This process takes about 7 days or so on average.
It’s important to follow all after care instructions and to attend the required follow up appointment to make the finishing touches to your new brows! Your healing is only about 50% in our control. Once you leave it’s up to you to be diligent about following the instructions you’re given to get the best result! And no matter how great they look, it’s important to come for your touch up appointment to get the final result.
